November Scraplift Challenge from NDISB

Gina told me about a scraplift challenge that was being held at Natural Designs in Scrapbooking, so I thought I'd give it a try. This will be a quick post because I really need to go to bed... but, here is the page! This is my neice Charlotte... just couldn't resist scrapping these pictures of her at my mother-in-law's piano... too cute :)

Credits can be found at my gallery post on DST or NDISB. Hope to have time to write more and share more layouts tomorrow :) Y Tracy

The Name Game Layout Challenge & Our Anniversary

It's early morning here and I'm having fits of insomnia (again)... so, I'm up and working... a few weeks ago, there was a "Name Game" challenge posted on the Cre8tv Girlz blog and, though I answered the questions back when they were posted, the inspiration for a layout didn't strike me until tonight! So, here it is:

It's kind of blingy and doodley (not really my normal style), but I kinda like how it turned out :) I think its because of the blue (my 2nd favorite color, if you consult the name game answers!) Picture isn't the best... but honestly... how in the heck was I supposed to represent my superhero self? I felt the sunglasses were my best option, in the end :)
Here is the list of supplies used:
Background paper: Autumn Bliss Paper pack - Gina Arzaga, Cre8tvLyYrs Designz (recolored); Gems, doodles and glitter stars - various kits by Ellie Lash, Sugar Snap Scraps (most recolored); Stapled Photo Frame - A Whisper of Fall, Nana's Attic (recolored); Journaling/subtitle font: Prime Minister of Canada; Blue Cosmo - Waiting for Summer by Andilynn Designs (recolored); Paint strokes - Heart & Soul by Doris Castle for Scrapbook.com; Flower/clip/graph paper - Amore Blue by Petit Moineaux

In other news, Erick and I celebrated our fifth anniversary today (well, prior to midnight, anyway)... we were going to go out, but then we decided to stay in, get some things done and go out to do something fun tomorrow night instead. But, we had a nice dinner together here at home (we even used our dining room table, GASP!) I thought up this ingenious idea for us to record our dreams/goals for the NEXT five years... so, of course it has to be a layout.... :) Gonna work on that tomorrow, maybe... I think I know the picture I want to use already!

He'll hate it that I gush in public, but I gotta do it, anyway... I love you so much, babe... I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have you as my husband. I can't wait to do all those things we came up with together over the course of the next five years. Thanks for being my best friend! :) XOXOXO

OK, enough sap... sorry to subject y'all to that! We now return to regular programming... :)

Another layout to share

Should have gone to bed long ago, but I'm on a roll! Here is my second page using some of Gina's Autumn Bliss papers (and a couple things I had from others, to round out the layout):

OK, now for the credits:
Autumn Bliss paper pack - Cre8tvLyYrs Designz by Gina Arzaga: Red & Green paper; also used yellow paper and adjusted hue closer to cream
Scallop & Decorative Frame Edges; Leaf pattern overlay - Scrap Girls
Green Polka Dot paper, ribbon & slide; starburst brad - Christmas Morning Kit (Lisa Minor)
Tag & scallop-edge brad - Christmas Classics kit by Creative Victorian
Fonts: Stamperface, One Stroke Script and Scribble
Journaling reads: This is the second year we have bought our tree from Thornhurst Nurseries. The owner grows Concolor Firs, our favorite tree, on site. This year, we bought early on Black Friday and we found a GREAT tree in record time! It's a good thing because it was quite chilly and blustery on the farm. I can't wait to enjoy our tree all trimmed up! November 23, 2007

My first layout for Cre8tv Girlz

Good afternoon :) That sounded dorky, but I don't care! Gina (of Cre8tvLyYrs Designz) and I finally hooked up regarding my CT position. Now, I have downloaded my first kit from her, so I had some time to sit and get some work done last night. So, here is my first layout share!

Papers are from Gina's Autumn Bliss paper pack... I used an eyelet edge template from Scrap Girls, adjusted the opacity of the orange/red paper and added some corduroy texture to the yellow. The swirls and flowers are from Gina's Autumn I Watercolor Elements and the Wordart came from the matching "bonus pack." The caption font is Tempus Sans.

The photo is a picture of my hubby and his two sisters... don't know why in the world he wouldn't smile nice, but the girls did, so I scrapped it anyway :) Now, he'll see it on my blog and maybe that will teach him to smile nicely when I take his picture!!

So, I have yet to finish my layout for the Christmas Traditions challenge (I know, I promised it days ago!) I'm going to get back to work on that one, now, and hope to share it by later today. Till then... Y Tracy

Advent Boxes

I saw this idea on Ali Edwards' blog recently and it inspired me to make something similar for my nephew this year. He turned three this month and I thought it might be the perfect tool for my SIL to use to introduce the concept of advent to him, all the while making it fun at the same time. So, here is my take on the project:

Completed Project (L) and Close-up of some of the boxes (R)

Here's how I did it:
1. I purchased the boxes from Michael's - instead of going with all rectangular boxes like Ali did, I switched it up a little with a few different shapes (actually, the selection at Michael's is kind of what forced this, more than my whim). All the boxes are pretty much the same size, except for three which are slightly larger - in those I am going to put a santa Pez dispenser, maybe a couple matchbox cars, some rolled up sheets of stickers... the rest of the boxes will probably have candies and other small treats.

2. I painted the boxes with red, green and cream (2 coats), then sealed each box with Mod Podge.

3. I didn't have any fancy numbers like
Ali did from Etsy, but I liked the look of the numbers she had with the white circle and red border, so I recreated them. I used my Creative Memories punches to make the white circle and red circle frame (ran all the paper through Xyron first), then used my Cricut (Jasmine cartridge) to diecut all the numbers. From there, I simply put all the pre-Xyron'ed pieces together and adhered them to the lids of the boxes.

4. Next, I thought, while I loved
Ali's eventual display (she put them on a wall with flat thumbtacks), I knew that wouln't be practical for my SIL. So, I bought a piece of white foam board and a 20x30 frame. After painting the foam board and letting it dry, I used E3000 glue to adhere the boxes to the board. (Tip hot glue will not work, so don't waste your time!)

5. Finally, I took the glass out of the frame and installed the completed board into it - all that's left is to fill the boxes and pass this on to the recipients :)

So, many thanks to Ali Edwards for the inspiration! Oh, and if you are wondering what I am going to do with the glass I removed from the frame? Well, let's just say I might have come up with something REALLY cool, except the dogs started chasing each other around the table today, knocked it over and yep.... you guessed it. No need to think something up for THAT piece of glass anymore!

My house is a zoo......

Got this great link from Donna Downey's blog and it just broke me up... couldn't stop laughing.

So, of course, I had to do it to us, too.... check it out (my ribs hurt I laughed so hard!)

Christmas Traditions Quiz Challenge

Hey there -

I just posted a challenge over at the Cre8v Girlz CT blog. Basically, you want to answer the quiz questions, choose five of the questions and create a layout showcasing your answers, along with a holiday photo or two. So, check out the Cre8v Girlz blog for the list of questions (and to read my answers), then come back here (or there) tomorrow to see the layout I create for this challenge! Leave a comment with a link back to the layout you create in response to the challenge and I'll send you a nifty freebie for playing along! Sound like fun? GREAT! Post a link to your layout in the comments by the end of the week in order to get the freebie. Can't wait to see what you all come up with! Y Tracy

First Fall Snow 2007

Well, winter arrived with a bang yesterday... here in Blakeslee we received nearly a foot of snow and it just started snowing again about an hour ago. Blakeslee is on the plateau at the top of the Pocono Mountains - it snows here from November to April! So, I guess the weatherman was teasing about our "La NiƱa" winter the other day? Who knows....

I sent DH out to snap some pictures of the snow yesterday - it was a wet one that coated the trees and was really pretty. So, here are some pictures from around 4pm yesterday - at this point, we probably had only 4 inches - we got a lot more overnight!

Welcome to my blog!

Hi - are there any readers out there? :) Well, I've finally done it... I've finally bitten the bullet and started a blog. I've toyed with the idea for a while, but now I am starting to apply for CTs (Creative Teams) for various scrapbooking designers and I need a place where I can showcase my work.

So, that's what this blog will be... a place to showcase my scrapbooking work. But, I'll also throw in photos now and again, things about knitting, stamping, card making, and just life in general sometimes. So, I guess this will just be a catchall for my random and scattered thoughts and interests! :)

Thanks for going on the journey with me! Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know if you are out there and reading, would ya? Oh, and I'm still in the construction phase of the blog, so please pardon the appearance! OK, that's all for now... more soon! Y Tracy
