A short note/request about coupon use

Hi ladies! I'm writing with a quick request... respectfully, I hope you all understand.

I really LOVE having customers who play along with our blog challenges and such, and I'm happy to provide coupons for the winners. But, I must request that coupons NOT be used on the new breast cancer awareness kit, Courage, Hope & Strength.

This kit is a charity/fundraiser kit... and the point is to raise as much money (and awareness) for breast cancer research as possible. So, please do not discount it by using your coupons on it. I am very grateful to everyone who has paid for the kit so far, who has helped me donate to Susan G Komen For the Cure! I will be adding this request to the description in all the stores, but I thought it needed to be addressed here, as well.

Thanks, everyone!
Tracy

Happy Sunday- Happy Halloween!

Hello everyone- Happy Halloween!! So this month we have the privilege of having not one but TWO amazingly talents girls to join the Trixie Scraps Stars. Since the rest of our team has had several opportunities to get to know them through funny posts and QOTW in our forum, or layouts I wanted to share a piece of that with our readers. So here is a little about Cami and Shauna along with fabulous layouts! We are so excited to have them on board with us!!

First up is Cami-
1. Tell us something fun or unique about yourself? Well let’s see. I am the youngest of eight kids Seven Sisters and One Brother. I am the only one in my family that has red hair. My siblings always told me I was adopted. Which I’m not. I was just the lucky one to get red hair. Ü
2. How did you find Trixie Scraps? ScrapMatters in the online gallery! Sooooo glad I did!
3. What do you scrap about? Memories… I would say my scrapping style is, Bright! Festive! And Whimsical! At least that is how I like it.
4. What inspires your layouts, i.e.: templates, others galleries, kits, etc? I think everyday life. My kids mainly! I love to look through children books. The online galleries are always a fun treat! What really inspires me to be creative is walking through a Craft store, looking at the decorations, and the new products.
5. Why do like digital scrapbooking? It is my OUT! I can be myself. It is the easiest clean up out of all my other craft projects.
6. What kind of music do you like? Country…nothing that is too tw-angy but also nothing that will give me a instant headache.
7. What is one thing you love about where you live? Honestly, my neighbors! Call me crazy but I absolutely love them. The Scenery is very beautiful too.
8. Besides scrapbooking, what is some other interests you have? Being a SAHM is #1. I love to try new things. I love to Learn. Right now, I am trying to win Mario Bros (on the Wii) with my five year old son that wants to win so badly. So we are trying to beat Bowser together. We have successfully won seven levels just working on the last level.

And here are a few of her layouts from playing with us this month:

And now Shauna-
1. Tell us something fun or unique about yourself? I once held a lottery ticket worth 11 million dollars, unfortunately it wasn't mine
2. How did you find Trixie Scraps? Like I find everything I need. . .searching on the internet. I had been digi scrapping a while and was looking for something new and found her Carly kit and it is still one of my favorites
3. What do you scrap about? My favorite subjects are my niece, nephew, my dogs, and on to other family. Normally I am scrapping whatever I've taken pictures of recently.
4. What inspires your layouts, ie: templates, others galleries, kits, etc? I love looking through galleries and see what others have done. It always gives me ideas I want to try. I also look at the kits and think what pictures I have that I would use with it.
5. Why do like digital scrapbooking? I love scrapping, but paper scrapping takes up so much space. The last time I paper scrapped I lost the dining room table for 2 months. I also love the undo button. If I put something down and don't like it I can fix it easily. But probably the best thing about it is all the wonderful people I've met in the digital community; everyone is so helpful and so friendly.
6. What kind of music do you like? Anything with a good beat, but I lean towards country, oldies, and christian, but it changes depending on my mood.
7. What is one thing you love about where you live? Texas is a great place to live, and I’m lucky enough to live close enough to a big city like Dallas, but at the same time far enough not to have to deal with big city issues.
8. Besides scrapbooking, what are some other interests you have? You mean there are other things besides scrapbooking….just kidding. I am active in my church, I love to read and I enjoy other crafts like loom knitting and cross stitch.

And here are a few of her layouts from this last month:

Here's the new release info for this week. Stick around until the end and there might just be a SWEET freebie for you!!

I've been working on a special kit for a little while now, and it's time to bring it to my shops. Courage, Hope, and Strength is a very special kit inspired by the requests of my customers. Since the theme of this kit is the women who have had or do have Breast Cancer, I will be donating 50% of the proceeds from this kit to Susan G. Komen For the Cure. Of course, this kit also has plenty of perfectly pink papers and versatile elements for your everyday girly pages, too! Celebrate your moms, sisters, daughters, cousins, aunt, grandmothers and friends with this beautiful kit. And help donate to a great cause in the process!

This kit is available in all my shops: Trixie Scraps Scrap Matters Gotta Pixel Scrapbook Bytes

I have a little deal to sweeten the pot for you, too! If you purchase the Courage fundraiser kit before the end of the month, you'll receive a coupon in your downloads good for 20% off a future purchase... and it will work during DSD, too! It's a great chance to save a bundle on my products during DSD (and the coupon will be in your downloads at all of my stores, too!):

Also new this week and just in time for Halloween, I'm bring my Carving Up Fun kit to all my shops. In celebration, I added to the fun just a bit! Along with the kit, I'm releasing a whole bundle of goodies for all those fabulous pumpkin carving photos just waiting to be scrapped!

Challenge Thursday!

Good Morning Everyone! Have you all had a good week? Are you ready for another challenge?

First up is the winner of last week's Challenge of Change with Carolyn! Take a look at this layout by LWENTKIE! She used Autumn On The Lake to create her challenge layout about her tree while she was growing up, and will receive a special prize from Trixie Scraps Designs!

This week, I decided to bring you all a scraplift challenge! I've chosen a fellow Scrap Star, Erica's gallery to scraplift from.

So the challenge is to chose a layout from Erica's gallery, lift "something" from it, whether it be the title, color scheme, layout, etc... and create your own layout using at least 80% Trixie Scraps products!

Here's the link to her Trixie Scraps Gallery!

This is her layout using Sunday Afternoon, that I've chosen to scraplift:

Here's mine: Although there were many things I could have "lifted", I decided to scraplift the "period of time" kind of title. I used Love of a Lifetime.

Beth played along this week and scraplifted this layout by Erica!

and created this stunning layout using Carving Up Fun!

I can't wait to see what you come up with! Remember to leave a comment with the link to your layout so you can get a chance at a special prize!!

Tips, Tricks and Techniques

Hello, it's me Sheila and I am bringing you a little TTT today. I often wonder why there were so many layouts in the digiworld that was really awesome and full of color. I then began giving my layouts an extra sharpening, like I do my photos. WOW, a great improvement. This is what I have done before posting to my galleries.

I use CS2 photoshop

1. FLATTEN your page (layout) as a jpg file, the big one (3600x3600).

2. DUPLICATE the page (layout) in the layers pallete.

3. Set the duplicate layer to soft light , again in your layers palette.

4. Then go to FILTER <> High PASS set the number to 10 for such big files and the merge the layers and SAVE.

To save for the web

1. Change the size to 600x600 and save for the web: FILE>SAVE FOR WEB

2. You will be taken to another screen. To the right look for QUALITY: change the QUALITY to a number where it keeps it close to 150KB. This is usually around 65, click SAVE and then name your file.

This is a step that I do for my pictures. This will make your pictures shine as well as those eyes. Just play around with your HIGH PASS number since your photos are a smaller file.

Now make sure you check out Trixi Scraps store for some awesome goodies. You can do that here. Here entire store is on sale, so stopped by today. If you are looking for a kit to scrap those Halloween Pictures, you need to check out this bundle that she has called Boo-tiful Night. A collab that she made with JennCK.

Special Request Sunday

Two weeks ago, Shannon announced that the winning theme for the Special Request kit is Breast Cancer Awareness/Race for the Cure. Tracy has been working to get the kit together but has had some personal things come up this past week so it's not quite done. (I've seen the color swatch though and I know it's gonna be AWESOME.) It will be done ASAP so please stay tuned!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Welcome to a super late Super Saturday Post!
Sorry for the lateness in my post, I've been battling some sinus garbage, and when I got off work last night, my ears were ringing and my head hurt...so I went straight to bed and totally spaced posting for you all! My most sincere apologies!

Lets get right down to business.

You can find the kits in these show offs at Trixie Scraps Store or they are also available at ScrapMatters, Gotta Pixel or Scrapbook Bytes.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what your prize will be this week, but it's something of Trixie's, so it's fantastic! Thanks for playing along ladies! I hope to get your prizes out to you ASAP!

Wanna play along? READ HERE on how to become part of the Saturday Show-Offs!

This week Trixie didn't have any new releases, but she did have some great sales! I hope you were able to snag some of the items from her stores! If you missed it, don't miss it again! Watch the blog, Trixie is great about posting and letting you know what's going on! You can also follow Trixie Scraps on Twitter or Facebook too!

Moving right along, here is your weekly Round up!

On Sunday, Gail gave us a glimpse into the person who was Trixie's "A Boo-tiful Night" collab partner, JennCK. {Did you know she's also a STAR?!}

Tuesday we got an awesome tutorial on how to create a layout using the Alignment tool from Candy.

Thursday's challenge was brought to you by Carolynn. She brought us a fantastic challenge about changes to motivate you to SCRAP them!

It's been pretty quiet around these parts this week, with Trixie being gone. But don't worry, we'll be back up to full steam coming up next week!

Thanks for stopping in! I hope you have a great weekend {what's left of it anyways!}

Challenge Thursday

Hi all,
Carolyn here to bring you this week's challenge. Before I start, let's see who won last week's challenge. The winner is andasta with this awesome layout:

I love those photos and all the fruit in her layout! CONGRATULATIONS!

Today's challenge is all about CHANGES. Did your children grow up? Did you change your hairstyle? Did you go to the same place over the years? Show us how things have changed!

The rules:
1. Use at least 2 pictures to depict the passing of time. Ideas: your child through the years, a pic of you and hubby 5 years ago and now, a pic of your kids 2 weeks ago and now...just show how they have changed over time.
2. Use at least 80% Trixie Scraps Designs products.
3. Upload your layout to the Trixie Scraps Challenge Gallery and post a link in the comments to this thread.

Here is the layout I had so much fun making for this challenge. It is my daughter, Jessica, in her various Halloween costumes over the years. She started off as a little devil (yes, she truly WAS one) and this year she will be a vampire! The intervening years were sweet fairies and princesses! I love seeing how she changed over time.

I used the Gotta Pixel October Show me the Mini kit by Trixie Scraps Designs, Stamped, Dated and Stated Vol 2 by Trixie Scraps Designs and A Boo-tiful Night and A Boo-tiful Night digital scrapbooking clusters by Trixie Scraps Designs and JennCK Designs.

Have fun with it! I cannot wait to see what you come up with.
Next week, we will randomly select one lucky scrapper to win a special prize from Trixie! Happy scrapping...

Tips, Trends & Techniques Tuesday - Alignment

Hello everyone! Candy here with another Tips, Trends, and Techniques Tuesday post.

I started digi-scrapping in August of 2007 and after several months of experimenting and cruising galleries for inspiration I noticed that I was mostly drawn to layouts that were clean, simple and organized. I especially love layouts that feature blocks of paper or pictures all lined up neatly in a row.

The trouble that I had was that I found it super difficult to get everything lined up just so! Often I would spend hours on a layout, painstakingly lining up blocks of paper or pictures or even elements only to print and realize that one thing wasn't quite lined up.

I struggled and struggled until I discovered my favorite tools - the alignment buttons in Photoshop.

In Photoshop (I am using CS5, but all versions will look similar) and Photoshop Elements, select your Move tool and this menu will appear at the top of your screen.

See all of those little boxes with lines? Those are your alignment tools.

To show you what I mean, I took this little button from Trixie's kit Every Day With You and duplicated it a couple of times. This is exactly how it might appear in a layout of mine.

That sure is messy looking! Let's line them up.

The first thing you'll want to do is select the items that you want to line up in your layers menu. To do this hold Command (Cntl on a PC) and click on your layers until they are all selected. My buttons page looked like this

on a layout you will have other layers that are not selected. Remember to only select the items that you want to align.

After all my layers were selected I clicked Align Horizontal Centers (you can see the button names by hovering over the pictures with your mouse in Photoshop)

and like magic, the buttons all line up.

It's still not perfect though. Did you notice that the pesky middle button is too close to the top button? We can fix that, too!

Click Distribute Vertical Centers

and the middle button is now perfectly even between the top and bottom buttons!

You can do the same thing for a horizontal line of pictures or elements by using the Align Vertical Centers button

And then the Distribute Horizontal Centers button.

Experiment with all of the other alignment options as well to see what you like best!

Here's a layout I did using these tools and Saffron Blues by Trixie Scraps Designs and Bella Gypsy:

See the perfectly aligned and distributed buttons? Smiley

And here's some more examples -

From Tracy, using A Boo-tiful Night. Love those lined up photos!:

By Candy, using Every Day With You, and lining up the buttons along the right side:

Here's one from Bethie using aligned circles from the kit Sparkle of Love:

I hope this little trick will help you when you want to get things all lined up in your layouts! We'd love to see what you create, so be sure to submit your layouts for the Super Saturday Show-offs!
