TTT Tuesday- using blend modes to edit photos!

Hello Trixie Scraps fans!

I hope this first day of November is treating you well! I am here today to bring you a little tip to help you make your photos pop by using the blending modes in your layers palette! I am by far not the best photo editor but I love having really bright, vivid pictures! I got the tip from a fellow digital scrapper and thought I would pass it on to all of you!

I use the soft light blend mode on 95% of my photos, so I will be giving examples with that, but feel free to try out others that suit your fancy!

Start by opening up the photo(s) in your editing program (I use PSPXI, but it is the same set up for most programs) not a bad picture, though a little blurry and dull for my taste.

go to Layers>Duplicate

make sure you have the top layer selected and change the blend mode from Normal to Soft light

and that gives you this:

now that might be a bit too much for you, but don't forget that you can also play with the opacity! I set it 55% and got this result

don't forget to merge your layers by going to Layers>Merge>Merge Down

Voila! A quick and easy way to edit your photos and it still leaves you lots of scrapping time!

Here my picture scrapped using My Brother, My Pal and My Sister, My Friend by North Meets South Studios!

  1. I love all of your teachings on techniques. Do you have a book on this or is there a way to print these so I can try these strategies step by step? Great samples for new digital scrappers! Thank you!
