Sunday Spotlight - Mother Bear, aka, Julie!

Welcome to another edition of the Sunday Spotlight! You may know that Trixie Scraps is now available at Pickleberry Pop! I was recently browsing the galleries and noticed some fantastic layouts by Mother Bear and decided I needed to know more about her! Here's what I found out:

Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Julie (Mother Bear all around digiland) and I'm mother to 3 grown children and I have 5 wonderful grandchildren (I know we all say that). I live in Brisbane, Australia, where I have for most of my life.

How did you start digiscrapping?

I was a paper scrapper and I stumbled across digiscrapping while I was looking into ways to edit my photos. I actually began by using digital brushes on my photos and then I started searching the net and lurking around forums to learn all I could. Needless to say once I did discover digital I've never scrapped a paper layout since.

I saw on your Pickleberry Pop profile that you are one busy lady - family, work, Creative Team commitments?.... When do you find the time to scrap?

As I only work part time (4 hours a day), I scrap without fail every day. Some days it might only be for a couple of hours but other days I can spend up to 12 hours or more scrapping and doing my forum and CT duties. I haven't updated my siggie yet but at present I'm on 17 CTs, and 3 store CTs, one of which is Pickleberry Pop where I'm CT manager. I don't sleep much so I spend most nights scrapping into the early hours as well.

I see a lot of cute little faces in your layouts. Who or what inspires your pages?

My grandchildren are my main source of inspiration. I love looking back on my layouts to see the changes in them as they grow. And my constant, compulsive need to create.

Some people love to use buttons on their layouts; others love ribbons or greenery. Do you have a favorite type of element to use?

My favourites by far are flowers and greenery (preferably realistic types), then there's patterned papers, buttons, curly ribbons and frames. I could go on and on as there are so many elements that I like to include on my layouts.

How did you find Trixie Scraps?

I first found Trixie Scraps while I was uploading layouts for one of my CTs at Gotta Pixel. Then I was so pleased to find out that Tracy was going to become a designer at Pickleberry Pop. That meant I was going to be fortunate enough to be able to work with her amazing kits whenever I wanted to.

This layout really popped out at me from your gallery. I just love the arrangement, and your layering and clustering blew me away.

What are a few of your favorite Trixie Scraps layouts?

Well there's the one you have which would have to be my favourite. Some others include:

Do you have a favorite Trixie kit?

I just love Always In My Heart. I'm a huge fan of the colour combo pink, black and green.

Is there something funny or strange or unique about yourself you'd like to share?

I have a strange phobia about old books. I can't stand the smell they have and just the thought of touching them really freaks me out. If it's not a new book I won't touch or read it.

One last question, pirates or ninjas?

I have to choose?? Haha!

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit about Julie, aka Mother Bear. Thanks so much for taking some time out of your busy schedule to chat with me, Julie!!
